1987: In 40 countries of the 5 continents

120,000 youth gather for their national Genfest to see “the disunities of their own lands and to send out concrete, targeted speeches.” The various ways to unity are made concrete according to the problems of the different countries. Just two examples. Beirut – 1,000 youth: the unusual presence of Lebanese and Syrians together, of Christians alongside Muslims, is rich in hope. We deepened the ways of unity between different religions and among peoples at war. The general impression: a new mentality - of Love - has penetrated the hearts of those present. Hong Kong – 800 come together for the Genfest: Buddhists, Taoists, Hindus, Christians from different denominations and many non-believers; from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Also representatives from the Philippines, Brazil and the Netherlands. A non-Christian youth left written: “I was resigned to living in a society where each one thinks of themselves, but the Genfest has placed a light in me that now illuminates everything and everyone around me”.
